TL;DR: Your camera frames and push-up repetitions never leave your phone. PushBuff runs Google MediaPipe Pose Landmarker entirely on-device. Camera frames are processed strictly in RAM and are never recorded, stored, uploaded, or transmitted anywhere.

1. Data Collection & On-Device Processing

  • No User Accounts: We do not require accounts, logins, email addresses, or cloud registration.
  • On-Device Camera & Pose Processing: The camera feed is analyzed in real-time by MediaPipe AI on your device to count push-ups during unlock challenges. Camera frames are never saved to disk, never recorded as video, and never uploaded to any cloud server.
  • Local Device Storage: Your blocked app lists, custom rep costs, streak counters, skip pass balances, and workout logs are stored locally using Android Room and DataStore.

2. In-App Purchases & Billing Data

In-app purchases and subscriptions (PushGate Pro and Skip Passes) are processed securely through Google Play Billing via RevenueCat. We do not process or store credit card numbers, payment details, or billing addresses. RevenueCat handles anonymized purchase tokens to grant entitlement access.

3. Android Permissions Explained

  • PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS (Usage Access): Used exclusively to detect when a blocked app is launched so PushGate can display the push-up challenge.
  • SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW (Display over other apps): Used to present the full-screen push-up challenge overlay over target apps.
  • CAMERA: Requested only during push-up challenges to count reps via MediaPipe pose landmarker. Never active in the background.
  • FOREGROUND_SERVICE & SPECIAL_USE: Used to maintain the background monitoring engine to ensure app locks remain effective.
  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Used on Android 13+ to show grace period timers and workout notifications.

4. Data Sharing & Analytics

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. There are no tracking SDKs or ad networks embedded in the app. Deleting the PushGate app immediately removes all stored local database records.
